REVIEW: Better Call Saul – “Switch”

The following is a review and ‘recap’ of the first episode of the second season of Better Call Saul, available on AMC in the U.S. and on Netflix in Europe. Expect story spoilers. 

Welcome back, Jimmy. You’ve been missed. It’s been more than ten months since the final episode of the first season of Better Call Saul aired on AMC. Better Call Saul was my favorite show of 2015, and I even loved its first season more than I loved the first season of the show that preceded it, Breaking Bad. Last year, I reviewed every single episode of Better Call Saul‘s first season, and gave a full season review – this year I plan to repeat that action completely. The following is an episode review of Marvel’s Agent Carter (Season Two, Episode Two) available on ABC and Netflix Denmark.

In “A View in the Dark”, S.S.R. REVIEW: Agent Carter – “The Lady in the Lake”

The following is an episode review of Marvel’s Agent Carter (Season Two, Episode One) available on ABC and Netflix Denmark.

At the beginning of this new season, after having apprehended Dottie Underwood (played by Bridget Regan), Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell) is transferred to the Los Angeles department of the S.S.R., which is now being run by Daniel Sousa (played by Enver Gjokaj), due to a case involving a female body having been found in a frozen lake. REVIEW: Agent Carter – Season One (2015)

The following is a season review of Marvel’s Agent Carter, available on ABC and Netflix Denmark.

Marvel’s Agent Carter started as a Marvel One-Shot about the S.S.R. Agent Peggy Carter, it was a spin-off of Captain America: The First Avenger. Not unlike Agent Coulson, Peggy Carter has been known to show up in various capacities in Marvel Cinematic Universe films, even those that have little to do with Captain America. The Academy has announced what films are worthy to call themselves the best of 2015. The Revenant, Mad Max: Fury Road, and The Martian were shown a lot of love in the nomination process, but Star Wars: The Force Awakens did get a handful of nominations as well. Predicting the Nominees for the 88th Academy Awards – Motion Picture Thoughts #4

By this time tomorrow we will know which films will battle for some of the biggest awards in western cinema. One of my favorite days of the year is when the Academy announces the nominees. Cinephiles always have opinions about award snubs, and I’m always excited to take part in that conversation. This year it’ll probably end up being The Revenant versus Spotlight for the big awards, but don’t be surprised if the Academy shows a lot of love for either Mad Max: Fury Road or The Martian. Therefore, films from 2015 that premiere in 2016 in Denmark won’t be considered for the I’m Jeffrey Rex Awards, and after some reconsidering only 2015 films released in Denmark in 2015 are eligible for my top ten films of 2015. REVIEW: The Ridiculous Six (2015)

The following is a review of the Netflix Original Film “The Ridiculous Six”, a Frank Coraci & Adam Sandler film.

Netflix has been great at releasing binge- and stream-worthy content for years. House of Cards, Virunga, and Beasts of No Nation are examples of Netflix bringing excellent original content to screens around the world. Netflix has slipped up before, not every season, documentary or stand-up special works, but I believe that The Ridiculous Six might be the worst thing they’ve ever released as original content. The following is a season one review of Marvel’s Jessica Jones, a Netflix Original show.

Marvel’s Jessica Jones is a Netflix Original show created by Melissa Rosenberg, of Twilight and Dexter-fame, which continues the Netflix adventure for the Disney owned Marvel Universe. Set in the same world as Marvel’s Daredevil and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jessica Jones continues our journey to The Defenders mini-series. And while Jones’ villain, Kilgrave, wasn’t as complex as Wilson Fisk was in Marvel’s Daredevil, Kilgrave was much scarier.
