Last month, Dagobah Day focused on the best moments in the prequel trilogy. It wasn’t always easy to point out what moments were good, in three movies that aren’t that great. Today I didn’t have trouble finding good moments. Instead, my biggest problem was to rank the greatest moments of the original trilogy. The original trilogy is one of the best trilogies of all-time. So, today I want to single out ten of the greatest moments in the original trilogy, to remind Star Wars-fans how lucky we are to have these films and these characters. The following is a retro review of Star Trek, a J. J. Abrams film.

I wasn’t a fan of Star Trek before 2009. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. J. J. Abrams made me a Star Trek fan. I’ve since gone back and seen some of the shows, but this film is still what made me a fan, and still my favorite thing in the franchise. 2009’s Star Trek is fast-paced fun. It’s exhilarating. REVIEW: The Neon Demon (2016)

The following is a review of The Neon Demon, a Nicolas Winding Refn film.

I like a lot of Nicolas Winding Refn’s films. I think he’s one of the most talented Danish directors out there. Drive is probably his most well known film, and definitely the film people praise the most. Drive is amazing, and I really like his Pusher-films too. Only God Forgives gets a lot of criticism, and I get where the criticism is coming from, but, ultimately, I thought the good outweighed the bad there. June Update: Regarding ‘Casting,’ ‘Testing Television,’ and ‘Box Office Predictions’

News

  • Casting – No longer posts on the fourth Monday of the month. The future of Casting is uncertain right now, seeing as there was no response to the new series of posts.
  • Testing Television – On the other hand, I’ve been pleased with the response to Testing Television. It will now post on the fourth Monday of the month.
  • Box Office Predictions: Finally, I’m changing the format for B.O.P. a little bit. For a while now, it’s only been predictions (and that will still be the most important part of the series of posts). But starting this July, Box Office Predictions will also look back on the box office numbers of the previous month. Also, I will be following specific films, and check on them to see how well they’ve done.

REVIEW: Game of Thrones – Season Six (2016)

The following is a review of the sixth season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Expect spoilers for the show in this review.

This is the first time that I am ever reviewing a season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, but I’ve been following the show since the beginning. I hadn’t read any of the books prior to the first season, but I have since read the first book in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire-series of novels.

The fact that Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was in the show, was what made me interested in the show, and his character is still one of my favorites. The first season was excellent, and every season has just been so good. Then the fifth season aired, and a lot of people were underwhelmed. REVIEW: Preacher – “South Will Rise Again”

The following is a review of the fifth episode of ‘Preacher’, available on AMC in the United States and on Viaplay in Denmark. Expect spoilers for the episode.

In the fifth episode of the first season of Preacher (“South Will Rise Again”), Tulip (played by Ruth Negga) has enough of Jesse’s goodness, Cassidy (played by Joseph Gilgun) gets a bit too close to Tulip, and our good preacher, Jesse (played by Dominic Cooper), maybe uses his ‘power of persuasion’ a bit too much, before the angels finally confront our hero.

REVIEW: Silicon Valley – Season One (2014)

Silicon Valley Reviewed

The following is a quick review of the first season of HBO’s Silicon Valley.

Silicon Valley follows Richard Hendricks (played by Thomas Middleditch), a shy and nervous programmer, who works at a huge company called Hooli. Meanwhile, he is also developing a project of his own, ‘Pied Piper’, in an incubator run by Erlich Bachman (played by T. J. Miller).

After Hendricks one day shares his work with some of his Hooli colleagues, he, and Pied Piper, soon become the object of a bidding war between Hooli’s CEO, Gavin Belson (played by Matt Ross), and the tech investor Peter Gregory (played by Christopher Evan Welch).
