The Last of Us: The Movie – Casting #2

CASTING - Who Should Play Who?

The Last of Us is my favorite video game of all-time. It is one of the most amazing cinematic experiences ever seen in a video game. If there ever was a video game that deserved to have a film, then this is it. So, let’s talk about who should play who in The Last of Us movie.

Just like with the Uncharted-post, I don’t think you’ll see a direct adaptation. As of right now, we only have The Last of Us and its DLC to base the story on. But I think you have to tell Joel’s story in a movie, or the first movie if it becomes a film franchise.

THE CHARACTERS

The_Last_of_Us

  • Joel.
  • Ellie.
  • Tess.
  • David.
  • Tommy.
  • Sarah.

Now, you have to have Joel, Ellie, Tommy, and Sarah. No discussion. They have to be in it. Now, if I were to do the film, then I’d make David the central antagonist. You don’t need Tess and David, if you want to adjust the story a bit, but I’d really like to have them in the film.

MY DREAM CAST

Hamm

  • Jon Hamm – Joel.
  • Maisie Williams – Ellie.
  • Lena Headey – Tess.
  • Michiel Huisman – David.
  • Nikolaj Coster-Waldau – Tommy.
  • AnnaSophia Robb – Sarah.

Honestly, I didn’t pick four Game of Thrones cast-members intentionally. At first, I was pretty sure I was going to say that Dylan McDermott had to play Joel (and he would look the part), but I really want to see Jon Hamm have more success in film (he’s already great on TV, let’s give him a big role). Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be a great pick to play Joel too. Maisie, Robb and Headey. Huisman has the look of David, the voice might be a challenge, though.
