REVIEW: Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)

Theatrical Release Character Poster – Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures

The following is a review of Solo: A Star Wars Story — Directed by Ron Howard.

Okay, let us get one thing out of the way early on. We all expected this film to fall apart. Most of us had this sinking feeling that told us we were getting a film that had fallen apart during production. Just like with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, behind the scenes news made us worry about the film, but it was even worse this time with Solo. Continue reading “REVIEW: Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)”

REVIEW: The Director and the Jedi (2018 – Documentary)

The following is a review of The Director and the Jedi — Directed by Anthony Wonke.

You can’t talk about Star Wars right now. I mean, sure, you have the ability to talk about the franchise, but the vocal minority of the Star Wars fandom has become rather toxic. As someone once put it, no one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans. As a big Star Wars fan, I had always disagreed with that notion, but the first fan reaction that made me realize the truth in that phrase was the reaction to Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi. March Madness: Star Wars-Edition – Special Features #20

I know, I know — people get super excited about college basketball in America, but, here’s the thing, one, I can’t watch the games and, two, I don’t really care about the March Madness NCAA tournament, to be perfectly honest with you.

But, hey, I like the whole bracketology obsession that March Madness has fostered, so I want to do my own thing here. Each and every year going forward, at the end of March, I want to do my own form of March Madness where I answer a pop culture, filmmaking, fanboy question or the like via the whole bracket format. This year, I want to figure out which Star Wars character is the best of all-time.  Continue reading “March Madness: Star Wars-Edition – Special Features #20”

REVIEW: Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi (2017)

Theatrical Release Poster – Disney / Lucasfilm

The following is my review of Star Wars: The Last Jedi — Directed by Rian Johnson.

There is nothing like Star Wars. The Star Wars saga includes the biggest films of all-time, the most influential films of all-time, and one of the most rabid and passionate fandoms in popular culture. There is an innumerable amount of lore about the galaxy far, far away, and the philosophy of Jediism was once recorded as a religion. Star Wars, as author Chris Taylor wrote, conquered the universe, and its influences can be felt throughout popular culture.  Continue reading “REVIEW: Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi (2017)”

TRAILER REVIEW: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Official Trailer) – Dagobah Day #34

Unless you’ve been under a rock for the last ten hours or so, you should know that tickets for Star Wars: The Last Jedi are now available. We also got a new poster last night, and a full trailer during the halftime of the Monday Night Football game between the Minnesota Vikings and my Chicago Bears.

Lord and Miller fired?! – Dagobah Day #33

Is it time to panic? I think it’s time to panic. Now, the second Star Wars spin-off film in development is the Han Solo film (which is apparently just going to be titled Solo — no official news, though). We’ve known for a while that Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who’ve successfully directed The LEGO Movie and both 21 and 22 Jump Street, were going to be directing the film. TRAILER REVIEW: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Official Teaser Trailer) – Dagobah Day #32

Breathe. Just breathe. — The first trailer for the next chapter in the Skywalker Saga is here, and it is a pretty amazing teaser trailer that, thankfully, doesn’t reveal too much about the plot while still feeding us plenty of exciting moments, shots, character returns, and general character arc hints. Let’s have a look at what’s been shown to us here. Continue reading “TRAILER REVIEW: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Official Teaser Trailer) – Dagobah Day #32”

‘Star Wars Celebration 2017: Day One’ Reaction – Dagobah Day #31

Like millions of others around the world, my Star Wars Celebration 2017 is spent at home. I spent the entire day watching the official Star Wars live stream, and while we don’t always get to see everything, I thought that what we got here was absolutely terrific.

Now, in this little reaction post, I’ll be discussing some of the news that got out of day one of Star Wars Celebration 2017, as well as some of the panels that I was able to see — starting with the 40 Years of Star Wars-panel! Continue reading “‘Star Wars Celebration 2017: Day One’ Reaction – Dagobah Day #31”

Star Wars Celebration Predictions 2017 – Dagobah Day #30

Over the next couple of days, Star Wars is being celebrated. Star Wars Celebration is happening in Orlando, Florida, and we are probably going to get the first trailer for The Last Jedi as well as some big announcements for the future of the franchise. Today’s Dagobah Day post is about trying to predict the answers to some questions I have about Star Wars Celebration.

Top 10 Best Moments in The Force Awakens – Dagobah Day #29

best-moments-tfa

Last year, I made two lists about the two first Star Wars trilogies. The list for the Prequel Trilogy was rather difficult to put together, while the list for the Original Trilogy was much more fun to do. I’ve previously promised to return to The Force Awakens (which I’ve seen 14 or 15 times by now) and, finally, make a ‘Top 10 Best Moments in The Force Awakens‘ list. Today I’m finally ready to reveal the list. Let’s get to it. Continue reading “Top 10 Best Moments in The Force Awakens – Dagobah Day #29”
