The Force Awakens Blu-Ray Review – Dagobah Day #13

Dagobah Day - 2016

Sometime during April there’s a good chance you picked up Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Blu-Ray or Digital HD (or both, if you’re me). I know that it released in the beginning of April in the U.S., but I know that people in other territories had to wait a few more weeks to get their hands on Episode VII. So, today I thought I would talk about the Blu-Ray: talk about what is great, what isn’t so great, and what is missing on the Blu-Ray.

Trailer Review: Rogue One (Teaser Trailer #1) – Dagobah Day #12

It’s finally here! I’ve been really excited for the first Anthology Film in the Star Wars canon, and Rogue One is that film. It tells the story of how the Rebel Alliance got the plans to the Death Star. Basically, this is one of the most intriguing stories to tell around the time of the original trilogy. So, watch the trailer, come back to this page, and then let’s go over some of the shots in the trailer.

2 Spin-Off Stories We Need – Dagobah Day #11

Dagobah Day - 2016

Not long ago we got the news that the casting process for young Han Solo was almost done. Rogue One‘s first trailer should be appearing sometime in the next month or so. So, I started to wonder about other possible Star Wars-anthology films that I wanted made. That lead me to today’s post, wherein I pitch two Star Wars stories for Disney to adapt.  Continue reading “2 Spin-Off Stories We Need – Dagobah Day #11”

Late March Update: Opinion Piece Shake-Up

Update

The following is an update in the form of bullet points on the return of Detective Comics Saturday and the formal introduction of Polarizing. Reviews are unscheduled, but if you want me to review a certain film (retro or classic), then please reach out on Twitter or in the comments below.

  • Box Office Predictions: Box Office Predictions will still be released on the first Wednesday of every month.
  • Dagobah Day: Dagobah Day will still be released on the first Monday of every month, and I’m really having a lot of fun writing this opinion piece. Please feel free to bring up possible subjects in the comment section below.
  • Detective Comics Saturday: This is the big news update today. Recently, I asked on Twitter whether or not I should write about DC Comics/the DC Cinematic Universe again, and most people wanted it to happen. Detective Comics Saturday will return on the first Saturday of April, and then continue on the first Saturday of every month.
  • Favorite Thespians: Favorite Thespians will still be released on the fourth Monday of every month. However, March was a bit different, as I wanted to write about Ben Affleck prior to seeing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
  • Marvelous Monday: Marvelous Monday will still be released on the second Monday of every month. However, it might end up on its second hiatus, if it doesn’t get a better response in April. Please recommend the opinion pieces to anyone you feel would be interested in them.
  • Polarizing: Polarizing premiered in March with a post on Man of Steel. I am considering posting something on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Stargate at some point, but it is still an unscheduled opinion piece.
  • The Collection: The Collection will still be released on the third Monday of every month.
  • Motion Picture Thoughts: Motion Picture Thoughts is still unscheduled, but I am currently working on a Academy Analysis-post, wherein I talk about what the Academy got wrong over the years.

We Need To Talk About Kylo – Dagobah Day #10

Dagobah Day - 2016

Attention: the following post contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens!

I’ve spoken to numerous people about the newest villains in the Star Wars saga, and what has become abundantly clear is that I don’t see eye to eye with a lot of the people criticizing the character of Kylo Ren. I’ve found myself defending his character, his development, his design, and the like on multiple occasions. I’m getting really tired of seeing people misinterpreting the greatness of Kylo Ren, so this month’s Dagobah Day is all about Kylo! Continue reading “We Need To Talk About Kylo – Dagobah Day #10”

Who Could Del Toro Be Playing in Episode VIII? – Dagobah Day #9

Dagobah Day - 2016

Dagobah Day is an opinion/news piece on all things Star Wars, which posts on the first monday of every month. Beware of spoilers for the Star Wars Saga-films.

Benicio Del Toro is one of the most talented actors out there. Del Toro is best known for starring in 21 Grams, Traffic, The Usual Suspects, and now Sicario. A couple of years ago, Del Toro apparently decided to star in more mainstream films, along came Guardians of the Galaxy, and, suddenly, Del Toro was the Collector to a whole new generation. That is about to change as he has signed on to star in Star Wars: Episode VIII. Today, on Dagobah Day, I mention some of the possible characters that he could play. We now live in the post-The Force Awakens world. We’ve seen Episode VII of the Star Wars saga, and some of us may have even seen it multiple times. CLASSIC REVIEW: Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983)

Theatrical Release Poster – Art by Kazuhiko Sano

The following is a classic review of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, a Richard Marquand film. Expect spoilers.

1983 – Return of the Jedi – the end of the original trilogy. While Empire Strikes Back is definitely the best film, Return of the Jedi was my favorite film when I was younger. And there is a simple reason why this film, though not the best of the three, is remembered so fondly by so many people. Return of the Jedi is the most satisfying Star Wars film.
