In this week’s post, I want to talk about two things. I want to talk about the categories that I could see Wonder Womanget nominated for. But, first, I want to talk about the ways in which people have reacted to the notion that Wonder Woman could be nominated for Best Picture. Let’s go. This time around I’m changing things up. Last time, my Best Picture predictions were listed in alphabetical order. However, now in October, I’m ready to start ranking them on their chances of getting the golden statue in early 2018. At the end of my listing of the ten predicted nominations, I’ll discuss a number of films that aren’t getting in — including a Weinstein production or two. On March 4th 2018, Jimmy Kimmel will host the Academy Awards for the second time in a row. Picture that. In six months, the 90th Academy Awards will have been held. Over the next couple of months, I will be keeping an eye on the Oscar race as I always do. Today, in the very first Special Features post, I will try to give you an idea of the current landscape in the Oscar race and tell you what films I believe will be nominated for Best Picture in early 2018. Well, it’s that time again. Time for my favorite awards show. I’ve previously talked about the Academy Awards like it was the Super Bowl, and, really, that’s still how I feel about it. In fact, since my team is almost never in the Super Bowl, I tend to obsess over the Academy Awards more than the Super Bowl. Today – just like every year – I want to reveal my predictions for the big event. Continue reading “89th Academy Awards – Predictions”→
This Sunday, we are finally going to see what film will become the winner of the Best Picture category at the 89th Academy Awards. My favorite film of 2016 – La La Land – is the current favorite to win in the central category, and therefore I should be excited to see if it wins or not. But, to be honest with you, I can’t wait for Oscar season to end. Continue reading “Reaction to the La La Land Backlash”→
The following is a review of O. J.: Made in America – Directed by Ezra Edelman
Orenthal James Simpson – a USC Trojans legend, Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee, movie star, and a convicted felon. In 1985, 5-time Pro Bowl and 1-time NFL MVP O. J. Simpson, a former running back for the Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco 49ers, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
He had become an actor, and in a few years he would become a movie star with the popular The Naked Gun movie series. Ten years later, in 1995, Simpson was acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife and her friend. O. J.: Made in America tells the story of O. J. Simpson’s tumultuous life leading up to his imprisonment after an armed robbery in Las Vegas in 2008. Continue reading “REVIEW: O. J.: Made in America (2016 – Documentary)”→
Every year we get upset about something or someone being left off of the Academy Awards nomination list. This year was especially upsetting to fans of Amy Adams, and that gave me the idea to give you a list of what I consider to be the worst Oscar nomination snubs of all-time, including this year’s biggest Oscar snub. Continue reading “8 Worst Oscar Nomination Snubs”→
Now, I still haven’t gotten a chance to see La La Land as it hasn’t been released in Denmark yet. So it’s tough for me to really say if La La Land deserves every nomination it got. But it did get a record-tying 14 nominations for the Academy Awards, which only Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s All About Eve and James Cameron’s Titanic have gotten before. Continue reading “Will La La Land Break the Record For Most Oscar Wins?”→
It’s that time of the year again, folks! The Academy Awards are just around the corner. Soon the Academy will reveal all of the nominees. However, just like last year, I am going to try to predict the nominations and, later, predict the winners based on the actual nominations.
