Chelsea F.C. 2016/2017: Antonio Conte & John Terry

Chelsea Football Club must learn from the mistakes of 2015/2016. It was an embarrassing season for the club. The club, then managed by club legend José Mourinho, was unable to put up a fight in the first half of the season, and Guus Hiddink steadied the ship in the latter half. Chelsea Football Club finished as the tenth best team in the Premier League just one year after they won the title. Absolutely awful.

Now, Chelsea won’t participate in any continental club competition, and their former manager, José Mourinho, has signed with rivals Manchester United. But there were some highlights at the end of the season. Talents like Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham got some playing time with the first team squad, Antonio Conte signed on to manage Chelsea, and club captain John Terry has extended his stay at Chelsea Football Club.

REVIEW: Preacher – “Pilot”

The following is a review of the first episode of ‘Preacher’, available on AMC in the United States and on Viaplay in Denmark. Expect spoilers for the episode.

It’s here. Welcome to Preacher! A supernatural dark comedy about exploding preachers, crazy vampires, and a crisis of faith. Maybe? That’s pretty much all I know about the show. When I sat down to watch the pilot episode, I had no idea what I was about to watch. The story is completely fresh to me at this time. I may end up reading the comic book that it is based on, but probably not until after the first season is finished. I didn’t know what to expect. But this show may be perfect for me right now. REVIEW: The Walking Dead – Season Six (2015-2016)

The following is a review of the sixth season of The Walking Dead. Expect spoilers for the sixth season.

Now, I haven’t reviewed the first five seasons of the show, but I’ve been a fan of the show since the very beginning. I’ve read a good portion of the comic book series, so this world isn’t new to me. It’s been almost two full months since the sixth season aired on AMC in the U.S., and about 5 weeks or so since I got to see the final episode of the season on DR in Denmark. I’ve gathered my various notes from different points in the season, and I’ve finally decided to review a season of The Walking Dead.

May Update: ‘The Collection’ Shake-Up & Introduction of ‘Casting’

  • The Collection – No longer posts on the third Monday of the month, and Favorite Thespians has now overtaken that spot. The Collection is now getting a new format as well. Writing about one movie a month without reviewing it just did not work for me. Now, instead, at some point late in every month I’ll be releasing a The Collection-update, in which I’ll jot down five films that have been added to the list.
  • Casting: Who Should Play Who? – For a while now, I’ve been loving writing about who I’d cast as this character or that character in this or that movie. So, I decided to make a series of posts about that very idea. Casting will be taking on the fourth Monday of every month-spot.

One last time. One final adventure. Uncharted is one of the great video game console series, and with A Thief’s End we are seeing the conclusion to Nathan Drake’s story. Naughty Dog, the developer of the game, holds a special place in my heart for having made Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, and The Last of Us (my favorite game of all-time). REVIEW: Marseille – Season One (2016)

The following is a review of the Netflix Original Show about French politics: Marseille.

In mid-to-late 2014 Netflix arrived in France, and by now the streaming service has pretty much gone global. It was only a matter of time before Netflix catered directly to the French-speaking audience by producing a show centered in France, with the French language at the forefront, available everywhere. Suicide Squad is the next film in the DC Cinematic Universe, and even though the superhero genre is the most popular genre in this century so far, DC/WB have had some trouble in kickstarting their cinematic universe. Man of Steel was polarizing, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was critically panned, but what about Suicide Squad? It will be the first DC Cinematic Universe film without Kal-El (you assume), does that then mean it’ll work? REVIEW: Special Correspondents (2016)

The following is a review of Special Correspondents, a Netflix Original Film.

Prior to the release of this film, Netflix had already released four original films – Beasts of No Nation; The Ridiculous 6; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny; Pee-wee’s Big Holiday – and not all of them had worked. In fact, I have to admit, I’ve been worried about these original films ever since I saw The Ridiculous 6, which I thought was absolutely awful. But I did like both Beasts of No Nation and Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, so I had some hope for Ricky Gervais’ Special Correspondents. Sadly, Special Correspondents is a tedious disappointment.
