REVIEW: Star Wars Rebels – Season One (2014-2015)

The following is a review of the first season of Star Wars Rebels.

I was never sure that I was going to watch Star Wars Rebels. The fact of the matter is that I didn’t enjoy every season of The Clone Wars. But I decided to give Rebels a chance, and I was hooked almost instantly. I loved the first season so much that I bought it on Blu-Ray in December 2015, even though the entire season was available on Netflix Denmark.

The first season of Rebels is perfect for all ages, and you definitely don’t need to have seen The Clone Wars to enjoy it. REVIEW: Daredevil – Season Two (2016)

The following is a review of the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil, a Netflix Original Series. Expect spoilers from the first season, but spoilers for the second season will be kept at a minimum.

Saint Matthew is back! – I loved the first season of Marvel’s Daredevil. It was the perfect show for me, as it outweighed the light nature of other Marvel Studios content. Since then we’ve seen the excellent first season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones, and how Daredevil lost its showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, with the latter leaving me very worried about the future of the show. The second season of Marvel’s Daredevil is the first piece of Marvel produced entertainment brought to you by Netflix in 2016, and I am glad to say that the level of entertainment is as high as it has ever been.  Continue reading “REVIEW: Daredevil – Season Two (2016)” →

REVIEW: Flaked – Season One (2016)

The following is a season review of Flaked, a Netflix Original Series.

Flaked, the newest Netflix Original Series, follows Chip (played by Will Arnett), a recovering alcoholic, in the streets of Venice, California. We see how Chip handles his addiction, interacts with other addicts, and tries to get his love life in check. Is it anything special? Not really. REVIEW: House of Cards – Season Four (2016)

The following is a review of the entire fourth season of House of Cards. Expect spoilers from seasons 1-3, but spoilers for the fourth season will be kept at a minimum.

House of Cards is one of my favorite shows ever, I would’ve said that prior to the release of the fourth season, and I’ll still say that now. Why do I bring this up? Just to inform you that this review comes from a fan of the show who happens to be a member of the target audience for the show: I am interested in American politics, I am a TV-nerd, and an admirer of Shakespeare-esque storytelling. I enjoyed the third season of House of Cards, which I know was somewhat polarizing. I liked it, but with the fourth season of House of Cards I’ll go as far as to say that I absolutely loved every second of it. I thought it was a spellbinding season.

REVIEW: Fuller House – Season One (2016)

The following is a review of the first season of Fuller House.

This television generation has a tough time letting things go. Fans are constantly begging Netflix, Amazon, Yahoo, and Hulu to revive their favorite shows. Sometimes it makes sense, like when Yahoo revived Community while it was still relevant, and sometimes it may be too late to truly recapture what was great about the old show, like with Netflix’s revival of Arrested Development or with the, at best, mediocre six-episode tenth season of The X-Files. With Netflix’s revival of Full House, now titled Fuller House, we may have met the very worst show revival yet. REVIEW: Love – Season One (2016)

LOVE REVIEWED

The following is a season review of Love, a Netflix Original show.

Love is the newest Netflix Original show, and it came with a lot of baggage and expectations. Netflix Original shows have mostly been pretty excellent, and the last romantic comedy to come from Netflix (Master of None) was one of the better comedy shows of 2015. Also, Judd Apatow is the co-creator of Love, and therefore I had high expectations. Love is some sort of mixture of HBO’s Girls and Trainwreck, but it isn’t as good as either of them. REVIEW: Vinyl – “Pilot”

The following is a review of the first episode of Vinyl, available on HBO and HBO Nordic right now.

Vinyl, created by Martin Scorsese, Terence Winter, Mick Jagger, and Rich Cohen, follows Richie Finestra (played by Bobby Cannavale), a record executive for American Century on the cusp of a massive label buyout deal with a German company, as he tries to manage his crumpling label, his love for music, his family, and his sanity. The pilot episode was just released and it is an excellent piece of television.

In “A View in the Dark”, S.S.R. REVIEW: Agent Carter – “The Lady in the Lake”

The following is an episode review of Marvel’s Agent Carter (Season Two, Episode One) available on ABC and Netflix Denmark.

At the beginning of this new season, after having apprehended Dottie Underwood (played by Bridget Regan), Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell) is transferred to the Los Angeles department of the S.S.R., which is now being run by Daniel Sousa (played by Enver Gjokaj), due to a case involving a female body having been found in a frozen lake. REVIEW: Agent Carter – Season One (2015)

The following is a season review of Marvel’s Agent Carter, available on ABC and Netflix Denmark.

Marvel’s Agent Carter started as a Marvel One-Shot about the S.S.R. Agent Peggy Carter, it was a spin-off of Captain America: The First Avenger. Not unlike Agent Coulson, Peggy Carter has been known to show up in various capacities in Marvel Cinematic Universe films, even those that have little to do with Captain America.
