The following is a review of HBO Films’ All The Way, based on the Robert Schenkkan play of the same name.
Jay Roach, who had worked with Bryan Cranston on 2015’s Trumbo, teams up with Bryan Cranston yet again, this time by adapting the play that Cranston won a Tony Award for in 2014. Cranston has become one of the very best, if not the very best, actor during what is now known as the golden age of television, and his performance in this adaptation of All The Way should earn him another Emmy nomination, at the very least. The following is a review of the first episode of Vinyl, available on HBO and HBO Nordic right now.
Vinyl, created by Martin Scorsese, Terence Winter, Mick Jagger, and Rich Cohen, follows Richie Finestra (played by Bobby Cannavale), a record executive for American Century on the cusp of a massive label buyout deal with a German company, as he tries to manage his crumpling label, his love for music, his family, and his sanity. The pilot episode was just released and it is an excellent piece of television.

The following is a review of Project Greenlight’s ‘The Leisure Class’, an HBO film by Jason Mann.
Project Greenlight is an HBO documentary show about the process of filmmaking, in which its producers grant a huge opportunity to a writer or director. Jason Mann won the 2015 season of Project Greenlight as a director, and he even got to film his own script with a budget of $3 million. By watching the documentary show we were led to believe that every thing was wrong from the get-go. While it does seem like the show was presented more as a reality program than a documentary show, the final product is as problematic as the production processes presented in Project Greenlight. The following is a review of the penultimate episode of the second season of True Detective, beware of spoilers.
We’ve finally reached the penultimate episode of the season. An episode which is, in my opinion, the most important episode since the season-opener. The penultimate episode had to make us care, it had to keep us entertained, and it had to convince us to worry about the characters for the very last episode. Though this season has been hit-and-miss, somehow this episode managed to tie up enough loose ends – as well as bring a gut-punching cliffhanger – to make you truly care about the end of the season. The following is a review of “Church In Ruins” from the second season of True Detective, beware of spoilers.
“Church In Ruins” had quite a job to do for the season to still be appealing. Most critics have felt that this season has had a tough time in comparisons with its predecessor. It hasn’t been as interesting or exciting, nor as strong in performance, writing or direction. This episode had to have strong performances, and it also had to move towards an end for the season. Just like last season of True Detective, this season has a point in which the show reboots itself. A point where the case is reopened, and all answers from the first half of the season are called into question by our main characters.
