TRAILER REVIEW: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (Official Teaser Trailer) – Dagobah Day #32

Breathe. Just breathe. — The first trailer for the next chapter in the Skywalker Saga is here, and it is a pretty amazing teaser trailer that, thankfully, doesn’t reveal too much about the plot while still feeding us plenty of exciting moments, shots, character returns, and general character arc hints. Let’s have a look at what’s been shown to us here. (more…)

Top 10 Best Moments in The Force Awakens – Dagobah Day #29

best-moments-tfa

Last year, I made two lists about the two first Star Wars trilogies. The list for the Prequel Trilogy was rather difficult to put together, while the list for the Original Trilogy was much more fun to do. I’ve previously promised to return to The Force Awakens (which I’ve seen 14 or 15 times by now) and, finally, make a ‘Top 10 Best Moments in The Force Awakens‘ list. Today I’m finally ready to reveal the list. Let’s get to it. (more…)

Top Ten Films of 2015

Top Ten Films 2015

I cannot believe 2015 is coming to an end. It has been the most busy year for my blog yet, and I’m really excited to reveal my top ten films of 2015, some of which really surprised me, and others that somehow were better than expected.

Originally, a couple of films looked missing on this list. This year’s list originally only featured 2015 films that were released in Denmark in 2015, and therefore films like the following 2015 films were not considered for the list: Tom McCarthy’s Spotlight, Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, A. G. Iñarritu’s The Revenant, Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs, Todd Haynes’ Carol, and Lenny Abrahamson’s Room.

However, I reconsidered their status after having seen the films above. Spotlight, Brooklyn, and Steve Jobs have pushed The Gift, The Martian, and Beasts of No Nation off the top ten list, and thus The Martian has dethroned Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation as the single honorable mention.

One of the things one usually gets hung up on is the idea that the highest rated movie is a critic’s favorite film. I’m not saying it isn’t ever, but that’s not usually the case. These films aren’t necessarily ranked on their IJR-score, the top ten ranks my favorite films of the year. (more…)

REVIEW: Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens

Theatrical Poster – The Force Awakens

The following is a spoiler-free review of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, directed by J. J. Abrams.

Set three decades after Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: The Force Awakens follows the scavenging Rey (played by Daisy Ridley); the best pilot in the Resistance, Poe Dameron (played by Oscar Isaac); and a troubled stormtrooper, Finn (played by John Boyega), as they are suddenly thrown into a galaxy-wide search for someone or something… That is all I’ll say about the general plot of the film, which does feature the original three characters that we know and love. Star Wars is back! (more…)

The Force Awakens Official Trailer (Trailer Review/Reaction) – Dagobah Day #6

This might be my favorite trailer of the year. While it didn’t have the incredible “Chewie, we’re home” moment, it did make me tear up – while not really revealing anything about the story. A masterful trailer. Let’s now look at the most important shots in the trailer! (more…)

Force Awakens Predictions – Dagobah Day #5

I'm Jeffrey Rex' Dagobah Day

It feels like it was only last week that Disney acquired LucasFilm. But that was, in fact, way back in 2012. Time flies. The Force Awakens is only a few months away from opening in theaters worldwide. Now, before we get too many teasers, trailers, and toy leaks, I thought that I would give my predictions for Episode VII. (more…)
