About a month ago, Colin Trevorrow was replaced by J. J. Abrams as the director of the forthcoming Star Wars: Episode IX. Why am I putting that information into my review of a completely different movie?

Well, because when The Book of Henry was released in the United States back in June, critics actually speculated that this film might cost Trevorrow his chance at directing a Star Wars movie. Adam Sandler is a really great actor, when he wants to be one. Every seven or eight years it seems like Sandler lands a role with which he manages to wow even his biggest critics. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is the fifth film in the series, and, sadly, not all of them have been great. I’d even go as far as to say that there really are only two legitimately good Pirates of the Caribbean film — the first two films. The franchise has struggled to reach the heights of the first two films, and Dead Men Tell No Tales doesn’t change the pattern. Oscar Chances for BLADE RUNNER 2049 – Special Features #6

BLADE RUNNER 2049 is one of my favorite movies of the year thus far. Unfortunately, while most critics love the film, general audiences aren’t excited to see it. The film’s opening weekend in North America was alarmingly low at just $32m, and, to the best of my knowledge, it isn’t doing all that well in the rest of the world either.

REVIEW: The Snowman (2017)

The following is a quick review of The Snowman – Directed by Tomas Alfredson

The Snowman is based on Norwegian crime-writer Jo Nesbø’s bestseller of the same name, which was actually released ten years ago. The film follows Harry Hole (played by Michael Fassbender), a well-regarded detective with a serious alcohol problem, who is investigating the disappearance of a woman. When that woman turns up dead, Hole teams up with Katrine Bratt (played by Rebecca Ferguson) to find and stop a Norwegian serial killer who likes to build snowmen.
