It feels like it was only last week that Disney acquired LucasFilm. But that was, in fact, way back in 2012. Time flies. The Force Awakens is only a few months away from opening in theaters worldwide. Now, before we get too many teasers, trailers, and toy leaks, I thought that I would give my predictions for Episode VII.
Now, these predictions are solely based on speculation, the Journey to the Force Awakens book and comic-promotion, and knowledge of the original and prequel trilogies. Fear not.
- Shattered Empire: The current Journey to the Force Awakens comic book Shattered Empire seems to be revolving around a certain Sergeant Dameron (though I’ve only read the first issue). I predict that Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac, has been raised in some way, shape, or form by Leia Organa and the Rebel Alliance, due to his parents having been lost on a mission post-Return of the Jedi.
- Solo-Skywalker Siblings?: Speculation, and some rumors, suggests that Rey (played by Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (played by Adam Driver) are siblings, and the children of Han Solo and Leia Organa. I don’t think that Rey and Kylo are related, but I would not be shocked to find out that Kylo is a Solo.
- Luke, the Jedi hermit: I predict that Luke Skywalker, like Obi-Wan, is a hermit. Though I do think he was a Jedi Master at some point in time. Maybe he had his own Jedi Academy.
- Darth Plagueis: This is a popular, yet somewhat wacky, online theory. Back in Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine revealed the story of Darth Plageuis. I believe in the online theory that Andy Serkis’s character may, in fact, be some version of Plagueis, who, having cheated death, has become Snoke – the Supreme Leader of the First Order.
That’s all I’ve got at this point in time, and I’ll probably be wrong about everything – but who knows? What do you think will happen in Episode VII? Sound off in the comments
I’m Jeffrey Rex
