The following is a review of X-Men: Apocalypse, a Bryan Singer film.

I think X-Men: First Class is one of the most brilliant superhero-team movies ever made. The sequel, Days of Future Past, was a confident time-travel film, and I thought that film really worked well too. Indeed, since we’ve been met with the second wave of X-Men-films, starting with First Class in 2011, the franchise has been pretty spectacular. Superhero films are extremely popular right now. We are, indeed, in the golden age of comic book films – but it won’t last forever. The last few years have been pretty good for comic book movies – 2012 was a successful year for The Avengers – 2013 was a successful year for Iron Man 3 – 2014 produced three great superhero films – and 2015 is actually a light year for superhero films, seeing as there are only three films total this year.
