The following is a quick review of the first season of Stranger Things. Available now on Netflix.

Stranger Things is Netflix’s newest original series, and, in my opinion, it might be the best new show they’ve done since maybe Marvel’s Jessica Jones. Stranger Things is a science fiction horror show, which is set in the 1980s, starring Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and Millie Bobby Brown. REVIEW: Game of Thrones – Season Six (2016)

Game of Thrones reviewed

The following is a review of the sixth season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. Expect spoilers for the show in this review.

This is the first time that I am ever reviewing a season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, but I’ve been following the show since the beginning. I hadn’t read any of the books prior to the first season, but I have since read the first book in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire-series of novels.

The fact that Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was in the show, was what made me interested in the show, and his character is still one of my favorites. The first season was excellent, and every season has just been so good. Then the fifth season aired, and a lot of people were underwhelmed. This time around though, with the sixth season of Game of Thrones, HBO have given us one of the most outstanding fantasy seasons that we have ever seen.  Continue reading “REVIEW: Game of Thrones – Season Six (2016)”

REVIEW: The Flash – Season One (2014-2015)

The Flash Reviewed

The following is a quick review of the first season of CW’s The Flash.

The Flash tells the story of Barry Allen (played by Grant Gustin), a forensic scientist for the Central City Police Department (CCPD), who lost his mother to a mysterious incident when he was a small child. Barry’s father (played by John Wesley Shipp) was convicted for murdering his wife, but Barry has become obsessed with solving the murder that happened long ago and clearing his father’s name. One day, the particle accelerator at S.T.A.R. Labs explodes, and Barry is struck by lightning. After Barry wakes from a coma, he finds out that he now has the power of super-speed. REVIEW: The Walking Dead – Season Six (2015-2016)

TWD Reviewed

The following is a review of the sixth season of The Walking Dead. Expect spoilers for the sixth season.

Now, I haven’t reviewed the first five seasons of the show, but I’ve been a fan of the show since the very beginning. I’ve read a good portion of the comic book series, so this world isn’t new to me. It’s been almost two full months since the sixth season aired on AMC in the U.S., and about 5 weeks or so since I got to see the final episode of the season on DR in Denmark. I’ve gathered my various notes from different points in the season, and I’ve finally decided to review a season of The Walking Dead.

REVIEW: Better Call Saul – Season Two (2016)

Better Call Saul - Reviewed

The following is a review of the second season of Better Call Saul. Expect spoilers for the first two seasons.

Last year, with the first season of Better Call Saul, I became even more enthralled with the Breaking Bad-universe. Somehow the television masterpiece that Vince Gilligan created was being strengthened by a prequel spin-off show. As I mentioned in the season one review, I was worried about what it would do to the legacy of Breaking Bad. I wasn’t sure if it would work. Well, I ended up loving the first season of Better Call Saul, and the second season did not disappoint either. Better Call Saul is currently my favorite show on television. REVIEW: Marseille – Season One (2016)

Marseille Reviewed

The following is a review of the Netflix Original Show about French politics: Marseille.

In mid-to-late 2014 Netflix arrived in France, and by now the streaming service has pretty much gone global. It was only a matter of time before Netflix catered directly to the French-speaking audience by producing a show centered in France, with the French language at the forefront, available everywhere. Marseille is the newest political drama, following in the footsteps of American shows like House of Cards and Boss, as well as the Danish show BorgenContinue reading “REVIEW: Marseille – Season One (2016)”

REVIEW: Mr. Robot – Season One (2015)

Mr Robot Reviewed

The following is a season review of the first season of Mr. Robot. This review was written in May 2016.

I just finished Mr. Robot some days ago. I know, I know, it aired in the U.S. in the middle of 2015. But Mr. Robot was not, I believe, shown anywhere in Denmark, which is kind of odd considering one of the characters is Danish, and the first episode is directed by a Dane. But somehow, some way Mr. Robot didn’t air in Denmark in 2015. For a long time, Mr. Robot was this weird little show airing on the USA Network that a lot of my followers just tweeted about on Twitter.

I had no real idea what it was all about. When I sat down to finally watch the trailer I was intrigued. Rami Malek who I had seen in some other shows and films (but mostly recognized from the 2015 PlayStation exclusive Until Dawn) was the lead, and Christian Slater was the main supporting character in a show about ‘hacktivists’. I had no idea that Mr. Robot was going to become an obsession of mine when I finally sat down to watch the season one Blu-Ray. Continue reading “REVIEW: Mr. Robot – Season One (2015)”

REVIEW: The Ranch – Season One (2016)

The Ranch Reviewed

The following is a quick review of the first season of The Ranch, a Netflix Original Series. The review is based on the ten episodes released on April 1st, 2016.

The Ranch is the newest ‘Netflix Original Series’, and it boasts a pretty stellar cast. Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson, who both appeared on That 70s Show, reunite as brothers who work on their father’s ranch, and that fact is what really got me interested in the sitcom. I had a lot of fun with That 70s Show, and wanted something just as good from The Ranch. But I’m not sure it is good enough to be in that type of comparative conversation.

REVIEW: Star Wars Rebels – Season One (2014-2015)

StarWarsRebels

The following is a review of the first season of Star Wars Rebels.

I was never sure that I was going to watch Star Wars Rebels. The fact of the matter is that I didn’t enjoy every season of The Clone Wars. But I decided to give Rebels a chance, and I was hooked almost instantly. I loved the first season so much that I bought it on Blu-Ray in December 2015, even though the entire season was available on Netflix Denmark.

The first season of Rebels is perfect for all ages, and you definitely don’t need to have seen The Clone Wars to enjoy it. I had some problems adjusting to the animation style of The Clone Wars, but have had no such problem with Rebels, to be perfectly honest.   Continue reading “REVIEW: Star Wars Rebels – Season One (2014-2015)”

REVIEW: Daredevil – Season Two (2016)

Daredevil Reviewed

The following is a review of the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil, a Netflix Original Series. Expect spoilers from the first season, but spoilers for the second season will be kept at a minimum.

Saint Matthew is back! – I loved the first season of Marvel’s Daredevil. It was the perfect show for me, as it outweighed the light nature of other Marvel Studios content. Since then we’ve seen the excellent first season of Marvel’s Jessica Jones, and how Daredevil lost its showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, with the latter leaving me very worried about the future of the show. The second season of Marvel’s Daredevil is the first piece of Marvel produced entertainment brought to you by Netflix in 2016, and I am glad to say that the level of entertainment is as high as it has ever been.  Continue reading “REVIEW: Daredevil – Season Two (2016)”
