Best of the Year-Lists and IJR Awards 2016

Awards Talk

The end is near! – We’re getting closer and closer to the end of 2016, and I almost don’t believe we’re already in Thanksgiving week. That also means that you might be looking for my best of the year lists for films and television shows.

Of course, I’ve also got my little awards presentation thing again this year. So, let me tell you how I’m going to be doing it this year, and how that way differs from last year’s schedule. Continue reading “Best of the Year-Lists and IJR Awards 2016”

Introducing ‘Top Ten Tuesday’

top-10-tuesdays

Change is coming. Detective Comics Saturday has been on hiatus for a little while, and it’s not alone. Testing Television isn’t ‘gone for now’ but it won’t be posted at least once a month anymore. The Collection and Thespians and Filmmakers are getting the Testing Television treatment too. What content is going to be replacing those three post series, you may ask? Good News, Everyone!

Did you miss me?
Sherlock, ‘His Last Vow.’ [BBC]
Good news, everyone! My laptop problems seem to have been fixed today. No more technical difficulties, please! Now, it’s too late to make this my big ‘event week,’ but don’t worry it’ll get pushed one week. In the coming days, I’ll announce what my plans are for next week.

Now, I need to catch up. Today, Marvelous Monday #56 will, indeed, go up as planned, and I plan to release a review for George Clooney’s The Ides of March soon. So, that’s pretty much it for now. I’m back. Did you miss me?

Technical Difficulties: Please Stand By

technical-difficulties

Bad news. I am currently having a couple of annoying issues with my laptop computer keyboard. Hopefully, it will be fixed sooner rather than later. But at this point in time, I have to face the facts – it will be difficult for me to write all of the reviews that I had planned for the coming week.

Sadly, this also means that Marvelous Monday #56 won’t post this Monday. I think everything will be fixed during the coming week, but if it isn’t, then I’ll let you know. You can still reach me on twitter @ImJeffreyRex, and I’ll try to be back as soon as possible. Until next time – go watch some movies.

Resolving the Undecided, and the New Categories – IJR Awards

Awards Talk

We are less than six months away from the 4th annual I’m Jeffrey Rex Awards! Around this time last year, I announced the frontrunners for a couple of categories. That’s not how I’m doing it this time around, however. Today, I’ll change an undecided announcement from 2013. Plus, I’ll reveal the new categories for 2016!

June Update: Regarding ‘Casting,’ ‘Testing Television,’ and ‘Box Office Predictions’

News

  • Casting – No longer posts on the fourth Monday of the month. The future of Casting is uncertain right now, seeing as there was no response to the new series of posts.
  • Testing Television – On the other hand, I’ve been pleased with the response to Testing Television. It will now post on the fourth Monday of the month.
  • Box Office Predictions: Finally, I’m changing the format for B.O.P. a little bit. For a while now, it’s only been predictions (and that will still be the most important part of the series of posts). But starting this July, Box Office Predictions will also look back on the box office numbers of the previous month. Also, I will be following specific films, and check on them to see how well they’ve done.

If you have any questions, ideas for Testing Television, or suggestions for Casting, then please leave a comment below.

May Update: ‘The Collection’ Shake-Up & Introduction of ‘Casting’

News

  • The Collection – No longer posts on the third Monday of the month, and Favorite Thespians has now overtaken that spot. The Collection is now getting a new format as well. Writing about one movie a month without reviewing it just did not work for me. Now, instead, at some point late in every month I’ll be releasing a The Collection-update, in which I’ll jot down five films that have been added to the list.
  • Casting: Who Should Play Who? – For a while now, I’ve been loving writing about who I’d cast as this character or that character in this or that movie. So, I decided to make a series of posts about that very idea. Casting will be taking on the fourth Monday of every month-spot.

Late March Update: Opinion Piece Shake-Up

Update

The following is an update in the form of bullet points on the return of Detective Comics Saturday and the formal introduction of Polarizing. Reviews are unscheduled, but if you want me to review a certain film (retro or classic), then please reach out on Twitter or in the comments below.

  • Box Office Predictions: Box Office Predictions will still be released on the first Wednesday of every month.
  • Dagobah Day: Dagobah Day will still be released on the first Monday of every month, and I’m really having a lot of fun writing this opinion piece. Please feel free to bring up possible subjects in the comment section below.
  • Detective Comics Saturday: This is the big news update today. Recently, I asked on Twitter whether or not I should write about DC Comics/the DC Cinematic Universe again, and most people wanted it to happen. Detective Comics Saturday will return on the first Saturday of April, and then continue on the first Saturday of every month.
  • Favorite Thespians: Favorite Thespians will still be released on the fourth Monday of every month. However, March was a bit different, as I wanted to write about Ben Affleck prior to seeing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
  • Marvelous Monday: Marvelous Monday will still be released on the second Monday of every month. However, it might end up on its second hiatus, if it doesn’t get a better response in April. Please recommend the opinion pieces to anyone you feel would be interested in them.
  • Polarizing: Polarizing premiered in March with a post on Man of Steel. I am considering posting something on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Stargate at some point, but it is still an unscheduled opinion piece.
  • The Collection: The Collection will still be released on the third Monday of every month.
  • Motion Picture Thoughts: Motion Picture Thoughts is still unscheduled, but I am currently working on a Academy Analysis-post, wherein I talk about what the Academy got wrong over the years.
