The following is a quick review of Ava DuVernay’s documentary 13th – a Netflix Original Documentary.

Previously, I have written about documentaries on this blog, and if you look at the scores that I’ve given films, you will notice that I’ve given scores to some documentaries. But I rarely review documentaries on this blog, even if I love certain documentaries like Alex Gibney’s Going Clear or Laura Poitras’s Citizenfour. REVIEW: Luke Cage – Season One (2016)

The following is a season review of the first season of Marvel’s Luke Cage, a Netflix exclusive.

The Marvel Television-Netflix relationship is wonderful. I’m a big fan of most Marvel characters, and I’m always in line for the next big Marvel movie. The first Marvel Television show – Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – didn’t grab me like I was hoping it would. I’ve seen some episodes of it that I enjoy, but I haven’t found the time to revisit the show.

Marvel’s Agent Carter – another ABC show – was more for me. But I have yet to catch up on all of the episodes in season two. REVIEW: Easy – Season One (2016)

The following is a quick review of the Netflix Original Series Easy.

Easy is the newest Netflix original series to binge-watch, and it comes from mumblecore filmmaker Joe Swanberg, who is known best for his 2013 relationship-drama Drinking Buddies starring Jake Johnson, Olivia Wilde, and Anna Kendrick.

REVIEW: ARQ (2016)

The following is a quick review of ARQ, a Netflix Original Film.

The newest Netflix Original Film – ARQ – is a time-loop science fiction film starring Robbie Amell and Rachael Taylor, and is directed by Tony Elliott – a former story editor and writer for the excellent science fiction show Orphan Black. REVIEW: Tallulah (2016)

The following is a quick review of the Netflix Original Film ‘Tallulah’.

In Tallulah, a young woman nicknamed ‘Lu’ (played by Ellen Page) rescues, or kidnaps, a baby girl from a negligent and irresponsible mother (played by Tammy Blanchard). The following is a quick review of the first season of Stranger Things. Available now on Netflix.

Stranger Things is Netflix’s newest original series, and, in my opinion, it might be the best new show they’ve done since maybe Marvel’s Jessica Jones. Stranger Things is a science fiction horror show, which is set in the 1980s, starring Winona Ryder, David Harbour, and Millie Bobby Brown. REVIEW: Rebirth (2016)

The following is a quick review of Rebirth. Available on Netflix right now.

Rebirth is a new film distributed by Netflix. The film follows Kyle (played by Fran Kranz), a social media-manager for a bank, who one day, out of the blue, is contacted by an old friend (played by Adam Goldberg). This old friend introduces him to ‘rebirth,’ a life-changing experience that he wants Kyle to go through. REVIEW: The Fundamentals of Caring (2016)

The following is a quick review of The Fundamentals of Caring, directed by Rob Burnett.

Based on the novel, The Revised Fundamentals of Caring, by Jonathan Evison, the Netflix original film, The Fundamentals of Caring follows Ben (played by Paul Rudd), a caregiver, who has been hired to take care of Trevor (played by Craig Roberts), who suffers from Duchennes muscular dystrophy.

Trevor is pretty rude to Ben, but after they get to know each other Ben, and Trevor’s mother (played by Jennifer Ehle), arrange for Trevor to go on a road trip with Ben to see some of the more odd sights on the American highway. Continue reading “REVIEW: The Fundamentals of Caring (2016)” →

Game Of Thrones: Better Than Ever? – Testing Television #2

In Testing Television, I give you five intriguing pieces of news from the world of television entertainment, followed by the main topic of the show. Finally, under ‘Spotlight’, I highlight a show I highly recommend. As of right now, Testing Television is unscheduled, but it may get a set date every week or month, if the format works.
