REVIEW: Better Call Saul – “Switch”

The following is a review and ‘recap’ of the first episode of the second season of Better Call Saul, available on AMC in the U.S. and on Netflix in Europe. Expect story spoilers. 

Welcome back, Jimmy. You’ve been missed. It’s been more than ten months since the final episode of the first season of Better Call Saul aired on AMC. Better Call Saul was my favorite show of 2015, and I even loved its first season more than I loved the first season of the show that preceded it, Breaking Bad. Last year, I reviewed every single episode of Better Call Saul‘s first season, and gave a full season review – this year I plan to repeat that action completely. REVIEW: Vinyl – “Pilot”

The following is a review of the first episode of Vinyl, available on HBO and HBO Nordic right now.

Vinyl, created by Martin Scorsese, Terence Winter, Mick Jagger, and Rich Cohen, follows Richie Finestra (played by Bobby Cannavale), a record executive for American Century on the cusp of a massive label buyout deal with a German company, as he tries to manage his crumpling label, his love for music, his family, and his sanity. The pilot episode was just released and it is an excellent piece of television.

In “A View in the Dark”, S.S.R. REVIEW: Agent Carter – “The Lady in the Lake”

The following is an episode review of Marvel’s Agent Carter (Season Two, Episode One) available on ABC and Netflix Denmark.

At the beginning of this new season, after having apprehended Dottie Underwood (played by Bridget Regan), Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell) is transferred to the Los Angeles department of the S.S.R., which is now being run by Daniel Sousa (played by Enver Gjokaj), due to a case involving a female body having been found in a frozen lake. REVIEW: Agent Carter – Season One (2015)

The following is a season review of Marvel’s Agent Carter, available on ABC and Netflix Denmark.

Marvel’s Agent Carter started as a Marvel One-Shot about the S.S.R. Agent Peggy Carter, it was a spin-off of Captain America: The First Avenger. Not unlike Agent Coulson, Peggy Carter has been known to show up in various capacities in Marvel Cinematic Universe films, even those that have little to do with Captain America. REVIEW: Mozart in the Jungle – Season Two (2015)

The following is a review of the second season of Amazon Studio’s Mozart in the Jungle, available on Amazon Video, and on Viaplay in Denmark.

When Mozart in the Jungle won the Golden Globe for ‘Best Series – Musical or Comedy’ in 2016, I have to admit that I was a bit stunned. I had never heard of the show, but I was intrigued by it when I saw Gael García Bernal grab his award for ‘Best Actor – Musical or Comedy’. Bernal was the guy I chose to binge-watch both seasons in three days for, and season two of Mozart in the Jungle really relies heavily on his performance and character. REVIEW: Mozart in the Jungle – Season One (2014)

The following is a review of the first season of Amazon Studio’s Mozart in the Jungle, available on Amazon Video, and on Viaplay in Denmark.

Based on the memoir of Blair Tindall, Mozart in the Jungle is a ‘dramedy’ featuring beautiful classical music. Set in New York City, the show follows Hailey Rutledge (Lola Kirke), a young and talented oboist, who is suddenly given an opportunity to shine on one of the grandest stages of them all. REVIEW: Sherlock: The Abominable Bride

The following is a spoiler episode review of the Sherlock 2016 Special – The Abominable Bride

Set in 19th century London, The Abominable Bride follows supposed alternate versions of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson from Victorian London. Their introduction to each other is almost identical to the first episode of series 1, except for the time, of course. The following is a spoiler episode review of Sherlock: Series 3, Episode 3 – His Last Vow

In His Last Vow, Sherlock seeks to mediate a negotiation between a media mogul and a member of Parliament. The media mogul in question is in possession of powerful stolen letters between the spouse of the member of Parliament and a fifteen year old girl. REVIEW: Sherlock: The Sign of Three

The first time I saw The Sign of Three I really didn’t like it all that much. My main gripe with the episode was how the episode was paced, but when I rewatched it recently it didn’t seem like as big a problem.
