You may not have noticed this, but this last week more trailers than you can possibly keep track of were released. Some of them you likely heard of, like the Halloween trailer, but there are so many more interesting trailers to talk about. So, today I am ranking the Ten Best Trailers of Trailer Week 2018.
Now, there are many more good trailers to watch out there, so if you are interested in seeing all of them, then I would suggest that you head over to the handy YouTube page MovieClips Trailers and watch all of the ones that you have missed.
#10 – Serenity
So, to be honest with you, a part of me really doesn’t like this trailer. But it also shows off a great cast, and the story seems somewhat interesting. It is also likely a trailer a lot of people have missed, so that also factored into why I ended up giving it a spot on the list.
#9 – The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part
It is finally happening. But while I did enjoy the trailer, everything isn’t awesome about it. I feel like I needed Charlie Day to scream “SPACESHIP” six or seven times to really love this one. But I am excited for it nonetheless.
#8 – Widows
Honestly, I thought I would love this trailer more than I, ultimately, did. This film has been on my list for quite some time, and I am sure it is going to be an interesting watch — but the trailer didn’t wow me as much as I wanted it to.
#7 – A Star Is Born
As someone who really likes Lady Gaga and directorial debuts, this is a match made in heaven. Show us what you got, Bradley Cooper!
#6 – The Old Man and the Gun
This was a nice surprise. I didn’t know I would want this kind of movie, but the trailer won me over almost immediately.
#5 – Halloween
Now, to be perfectly honest with you, I wasn’t really loving it to start off with. But then the familiar Halloween theme started and, boy, let me tell you, that is when I fell in love with this trailer. Will this be a forgettable horror sequel? Maybe, but I have a good feeling about this one.
#4 – Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
I love Spider-Man. Not just Peter Parker, but Miles Morales as well. So, this film is right up my alley. It also looks like a super stylized animated film with particular comic book elements thrown in there. So, yeah, I’ll be first in line.
#3 – Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wrech-It Ralph 2
This is one of the most perfect animated Disney film trailers that I have ever seen. Sure, it doesn’t really tell us much about the plot, but the references are all perfectly thrown in there. I think I am going to love this movie.
#2 – Bad Times at the El Royale
I had no idea this movie was coming out this year, before I saw this trailer. But it just looks like such an entertaining film. I’m not entirely sure what it is going to be about, but this is a fantastic trailer.
#1 – First Man
Now, this is the movie that I want. Although I have obviously been super excited for Avengers: Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars Story (I am a big Star Wars and Marvel fan, after all), the one non-blockbuster film that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this year is Damien Chazelle’s First Man. The last two Chazelle films were some of my favorite films of the decade thus far, so this should be right up my alley.
That is my personal top 10 trailers released during what I refer to as ‘Trailer Week 2018,’ but what do you think? Did you fall for the Suspiria-teaser? Was the White Boy Rick-trailer more your thing? Did I miss something? Sound off in the comments below.
