The following is a review of Jon Schnepp’s The Death of “Superman Lives”: What Happened?

For more reasons than one, this is the perfect time for Jon Schnepp’s documentary to be released. Not only is Ant-Man out in theaters in the summer of 2015 – a film infamous for the Edgar Wright-problems – but Avengers: Age of Ultron suffered from problematic quotes from its director back in April 2015. Meanwhile, Superman has not been this relevant since 1978.

REVIEW: Ant-Man (2015)

The following is a spoiler-free review of Marvel’s Ant-Man (2015).

We’ve reached the final film of Marvel Studios‘ Phase Two – Ant-Man is here. If this sounds like Marvel has gone for one of the most obscure comic books they’ve ever done, then you’re not entirely wrong. The general public wouldn’t be that familiar with the character, but he is not unimportant – his film is much more than a stopgap between Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Captain America 3 – in fact, this origin story is a breath of fresh air for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. REVIEW: True Detective – “Other Lives”

The following is a review of “Other Lives” from the second season of True Detective, beware of spoilers.

Just like last season of True Detective, this season has a point in which the show reboots itself. A point where the case is reopened, and all answers from the first half of the season are called into question by our main characters. REVIEW: Creep (2015)

I’m not a horror fan – let me start by stating that. For me to be interested in a horror film it has to either: be a horror classic, feature an actor / a director I like, or, my very favorite, be an acclaimed low-budget horror film. REVIEW: 12 Years A Slave (2013)

The following is a spoiler review for 12 Years A Slave.

At the 86th Academy Awards in early 2014, 12 Years A Slave was nominated for 9 awards, and only American Hustle & Gravity were nominated for more (both 10). In a less stellar year for movies — and with a little bit of luck on their side — Ejiofor and Fassbender might have left the night with Academy Awards, but, in the end, the film only received 3 Oscars. REVIEW: Mud (2013)

*I attribute it to 2013 due to the fact that it was only released at festivals in 2012 – and had a wide release in its country of production in 2013.

2012 was the beginning of Matthew McConaughey’s rise back to stardom. Since 2012 he has been considered a big star yet again with great performances in Magic Mike, Dallas Buyers Club, True Detective – and, yes, Mud. REVIEW: It Follows (2015)

To be honest, I wouldn’t really call myself a ‘horror fan’ or ‘horror aficionado,’ even though the rest of my family clearly adores the genre. It Follows, however, was a horror film that intrigued me, due to the fact that the story, in itself, actually resembled a nightmare I’ve had multiple times — one featuring an individual walking towards me ever so slowly with ill intent.

Unfortunately, I didn’t go to the CPH PIX Film festival. I didn’t find time to see it during its wide release in my home country either. Instead, I recently ordered it on Amazon. REVIEW: Secret Wars (Crossover) #4

Full disclosure: For a while I didn’t want to review this issue. If you’ve been reading my Secret Wars-reviews then you know that I strongly dislike Esad Ribic’s faces of astonishment. Dislike isn’t strong enough, I hate them. This isn’t to say that Ribic’s art is bad (it’s really good), but they’ve been annoying me for a while, and they were particularly annoying in this issue.
