The following is a spoiler review for 12 Years A Slave.

At the 86th Academy Awards in early 2014, 12 Years A Slave was nominated for 9 awards, and only American Hustle & Gravity were nominated for more (both 10). In a less stellar year for movies — and with a little bit of luck on their side — Ejiofor and Fassbender might have left the night with Academy Awards, but, in the end, the film only received 3 Oscars. REVIEW: Mud (2013)

*I attribute it to 2013 due to the fact that it was only released at festivals in 2012 – and had a wide release in its country of production in 2013.

2012 was the beginning of Matthew McConaughey’s rise back to stardom. Since 2012 he has been considered a big star yet again with great performances in Magic Mike, Dallas Buyers Club, True Detective – and, yes, Mud. REVIEW: It Follows (2015)

To be honest, I wouldn’t really call myself a ‘horror fan’ or ‘horror aficionado,’ even though the rest of my family clearly adores the genre. It Follows, however, was a horror film that intrigued me, due to the fact that the story, in itself, actually resembled a nightmare I’ve had multiple times — one featuring an individual walking towards me ever so slowly with ill intent.

Unfortunately, I didn’t go to the CPH PIX Film festival. I didn’t find time to see it during its wide release in my home country either. Instead, I recently ordered it on Amazon. REVIEW: Terminator Genisys (2015)

The following is a short spoiler-free review of Terminator Genisys (2015).

Let me preface review this by saying that I love the James Cameron Terminator-films and that even though the 3rd and 4th entries in the franchise were underwhelming, I’ve been very hopeful for this franchise. In truth, The Sarah Connor Chronicles was the last good entry in the franchise, but audiences didn’t exactly flock to that piece of entertainment content, sadly. I really wanted to like Genisys, this potential new beginning of a fresh Terminator-trilogy. But in the end, I got exactly what I had feared for so long – another subpar Terminator-film. It’s been 22 years since the original Steven Spielberg film, and it has been a bumpy ride for the franchise ever since. I, personally, enjoyed The Lost World – but understood why people disliked it. REVIEW: EX_MACHINA (2015)

This is a film that I have been really excited about for a long time. The trailer just hooked me immediately. Though, for some unknown reason, I don’t believe it was ever released in theaters in Denmark. Therefore I had to wait until I got my hands on the Blu-Ray. Thankfully, the long wait was worth it. REVIEW: Mad Max – Fury Road (2015)

The following is a review of Mad Max: Fury Road — Directed by George Miller.

Thirty years ago the last Mad Max-film, Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, was released. Although all three films are beloved by fans, it is still somewhat of a cult franchise. Sure, very few people realize just how much the original Mad Max films gave to its genre. Yes, some people have surely understimated the impact of the film series. But the franchise is, by no means, a film that young audiences hold dear right now. Nevertheless, you don’t get many better dystopian action films than Mad Max: Road Warrior. However, I am pleased to report that the latest Mad Max-sequel, Mad Max: Fury Road, actually tops it. George Miller’s latest film is absolutely terrific.

CLASSIC REVIEW: The Godfather (1972)

Way back in 1969, Mario Puzo’s novel The Godfather was published – not long thereafter Paramount Pictures had the film rights, and were to adapt it into a movie. Sergio Leone passed on the film, as did Peter Bogdanovich – finally Francis Ford Coppola signed on, and the rest is history.
