Rockwell Testing TV 2

Testing Television is a new recurring series of posts. In Testing Television, I give you five intriguing pieces of news from the world of television entertainment, followed by the main topic of the show. Finally, under ‘Spotlight’, I highlight a show I highly recommend. As of right now, Testing Television is unscheduled, but it may get a set date every week or month, if the format works.

In this post of Testing Television, I ask whether or not the first season of HBO’s ‘musical’ period drama, Vinyl, was a flop. Also, I highly recommend the great sitcom [Scrubs], one of my favorite comedy shows of all-time. But first, here are the five pieces of television news that you have to know about! REVIEW: Preacher – “Pilot”

Preacher Reviewed

The following is a review of the first episode of ‘Preacher’, available on AMC in the United States and on Viaplay in Denmark. Expect spoilers for the episode.

It’s here. Welcome to Preacher! A supernatural dark comedy about exploding preachers, crazy vampires, and a crisis of faith. Maybe? That’s pretty much all I know about the show. When I sat down to watch the pilot episode, I had no idea what I was about to watch. The story is completely fresh to me at this time. I may end up reading the comic book that it is based on, but probably not until after the first season is finished. I didn’t know what to expect. But this show may be perfect for me right now. TWD Reviewed

The following is a review of the sixth season of The Walking Dead. Expect spoilers for the sixth season.

Now, I haven’t reviewed the first five seasons of the show, but I’ve been a fan of the show since the very beginning. I’ve read a good portion of the comic book series, so this world isn’t new to me. It’s been almost two full months since the sixth season aired on AMC in the U.S., and about 5 weeks or so since I got to see the final episode of the season on DR in Denmark. I’ve gathered my various notes from different points in the season, and I’ve finally decided to review a season of The Walking Dead.

REVIEW: The Night Manager (2016 – Mini-Series)

The Night Manager Reviewed

The following is a review of the BBC/AMC mini-series The Night Manager, directed by Susanne Bier.

Strictly scheduled mini-series don’t always land with me at the right moment. I latch onto longer television shows or movies much easier, but once in a while some mini-series will pop up on my radar, and some aspect of it will pull me in. In 2015, Show Me A Hero was the mini-series for me, and Oscar Isaac was the main reason why I gave the HBO mini-series a chance. Now, I have found a mini-series that is exactly what I need. BBC’s The Night Manager is pretty great. Continue reading “REVIEW: The Night Manager (2016 – Mini-Series)”
