REVIEW: Daredevil – “World on Fire”

I'm Jeffrey Rex Episode Review - Daredevil - World on FireMarvel’s Daredevil is a new Netflix show from the same universe as the Avengers films. Expect spoilers for every review this season, though I’m going to try to limit spoilery details. “World on Fire” is the fifth episode of the first season, and this episode deals with Fisk’s lackey, Wesley, having accused Daredevil of comitting a murder.

The conclusion to the fifth episode came out of left field. Somehow, it feels to soon for the cops to bring Murdoch in – it seems inconvenient for the show, and The Defenders. We’ll have to wait and see just how Matt wiggles his way out of this one.

This episode really tried to distance the similarities in love-life between Matt and Fisk. Fisk is getting everything he wants, after a long period of time where he’s been the quiet, lonesome one. Whereas Matt, on the other hand, has been with a ton of girls – if we believe Foggy – and Claire seems to now be losing faith in him.

Speaking of Claire Temple, I love her interactions with Matt Murdoch – and dare I say it – Temple is becoming my favorite character on the show. Which leads me to my fear: During this episode I felt that perhaps they would kill off Claire Temple. I always fear for a hero’s significant other when they have a loud discussion in their last scene together in an episode.

Foggy Nelson is a nice guy, and I like what Elden Henson is doing with him – but his lines felt out of character when he was confronting Marci Stahl.

The attack on the Russian mob did surprise me. I knew that Fisk intended to take them down, but this seemed rushed.
