Introducing ‘Thespians and Filmmakers’

Thespians and Filmmakers

In early August, I announced that Favorite Thespians was being dropped from the monthly schedule. In that same post, I also noted that I still wanted to write about thespians, and I wanted to write about directors or filmmakers as well. So, today, I’m going to announce Thespians & Filmmakers, which will essentially replace Favorite Thespians. But first, let’s take a look at what thespians were spotlighted on Favorite Thespians: Continue reading “Introducing ‘Thespians and Filmmakers’”

Favorite Thespians #7 – Jared Leto

Leto Thespian

As always Favorite Thespians contains three separate sections: one section on the first film I saw the thespian in (“On My Radar”), another section on 5 films you need to see to know the thespian (now retitled as “Watchlist”), and a section on my favorite performance from him/her. This month I’m focusing on a guy who isn’t just one of my favorite actors, but is also one of my favorite musical artists: Jared Leto. Continue reading “Favorite Thespians #7 – Jared Leto”

Favorite Thespians #6 – Anton Yelchin

This is going to be a tough post for me to write. I had planned for this month’s Favorite Thespian to be Jared Leto, I had even written the entire post in preparation for today. But then something happened. Last night, one of my favorite thespians passed away. I was a big fan of Anton Yelchin, and when I heard that he had died I was in shock. I sat in silence for ten minutes or so. And when someone asked me what was wrong, tears started to rush down my face. I will miss Yelchin. So this month’s Favorite Thespians is in memory of him. Favorite Thespians #5 – Chiwetel Ejiofor

Ejiofor Thespians

As always Favorite Thespians contains three separate sections: one section on the first film I saw the thespian in (“On My Radar”), another section on 5 films you need to see to know the thespian (“Homework”), and a section on my favorite performance from him/her. This month I’m focusing on a guy who might be the most underappreciated actor working today: Chiwetel Ejifor.

Late March Update: Opinion Piece Shake-Up

Update

The following is an update in the form of bullet points on the return of Detective Comics Saturday and the formal introduction of Polarizing. Reviews are unscheduled, but if you want me to review a certain film (retro or classic), then please reach out on Twitter or in the comments below.

  • Box Office Predictions: Box Office Predictions will still be released on the first Wednesday of every month.
  • Dagobah Day: Dagobah Day will still be released on the first Monday of every month, and I’m really having a lot of fun writing this opinion piece. Please feel free to bring up possible subjects in the comment section below.
  • Detective Comics Saturday: This is the big news update today. Recently, I asked on Twitter whether or not I should write about DC Comics/the DC Cinematic Universe again, and most people wanted it to happen. Detective Comics Saturday will return on the first Saturday of April, and then continue on the first Saturday of every month.
  • Favorite Thespians: Favorite Thespians will still be released on the fourth Monday of every month. However, March was a bit different, as I wanted to write about Ben Affleck prior to seeing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
  • Marvelous Monday: Marvelous Monday will still be released on the second Monday of every month. However, it might end up on its second hiatus, if it doesn’t get a better response in April. Please recommend the opinion pieces to anyone you feel would be interested in them.
  • Polarizing: Polarizing premiered in March with a post on Man of Steel. I am considering posting something on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Stargate at some point, but it is still an unscheduled opinion piece.
  • The Collection: The Collection will still be released on the third Monday of every month.
  • Motion Picture Thoughts: Motion Picture Thoughts is still unscheduled, but I am currently working on a Academy Analysis-post, wherein I talk about what the Academy got wrong over the years.
