REVIEW: Disenchantment – Season One (2018)

Release Poster – Netflix

The following review is of the ten episodes released on August 17, 2018.

Say what you will about the quality of Netflix films, but one thing you absolutely cannot deny is the high quality of Netflix’s American adult animated series. Although I didn’t care for F Is For Family, last year’s Big Mouth starring Nick Kroll and John Mulaney was a surprisingly strong animated series. But the cream of the crop in adult animation on Netflix is Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s BoJack Horseman, which I think is one of the best things Netflix has ever greenlit.   Continue reading “REVIEW: Disenchantment – Season One (2018)”

REVIEW: First Team: Juventus – Part Two (2018)

Release Poster – Netflix

The following is a review of the last three episodes of the first season of First Team: Juventus – A Netflix Documentary Series.

You may not have noticed, but Netflix doesn’t always release every episode of a season at once. With some shows and docu-series, they’ve started to release half of the content at one point, only to release the conclusion at a later point (often six months later). Back in February, I reviewed the first part of First Team: Juventus, which was basically three episodes on the first half of the 2017/2018 football season. Now, Netflix has released the second half of the season, and while it is more compelling, it, unfortunately, suffers from some of the same issues that the first part did. REVIEW: 13 Reasons Why – Season Two (2018)

Release Poster – Netflix

The following is a review of the second season of 13 Reasons Why — Developed by Brian Yorkey.

When I reviewed the first season of 13 Reasons Why, which I thought was a very good and, certainly, important season of television, I ended up saying that it was must-watch television and that it would be irresponsible for parents to ignore it. REVIEW: This is Us – Season One (2016-2017)

Season 1 Poster –
NBCUniversal

The following is a review of the debut season of This Is Us.

This is Us is a television dramedy about five characters, the way they are connected, and obstacles in life. You have Jack (played by Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca Pearson (played by Mandy Moore), a married couple expecting triplets. Randall (played by Sterling K. Brown), an affluent commodity trader looking for his biological father. Kate (played by Chrissy Metz), an obese woman who is traumatized by the death of her father. And, finally, Kevin (played by Justin Hartley), a sitcom actor who is tired of not being taken seriously as an actor.  Continue reading “REVIEW: This is Us – Season One (2016-2017)”

REVIEW: The Crown – Season Two (2017)

Season 2 Release Poster – Netflix

The following is a review of the second season of The Crown – Available on Netflix.

I explained in my review of the first season how people might be surprised by my reaction to The Crown. I’m not obsessed with the royal family in any country, even though I live in a constitutional monarchy. My interest in The Crown was originally more centered around the inclusion of Sir Winston Churchill in the first season. However, having now seen the second season of The Crown, I must admit that I’ve actually become extremely fascinated with the British royal family. I’m still quite shocked.  Continue reading “REVIEW: The Crown – Season Two (2017)”

REVIEW: Easy – Season Two (2017)

Season 1 Release Poster – Netflix

The following is a short review of the second season of Easy.

Last year, mumblecore filmmaker Joe Swanberg gave us a Chicago-based anthology series on relationships called Easy. While I enjoyed watching the series, I was, admittedly, a little bit disappointed that Easy wasn’t more up my alley. Although the first season’s cast featured several familiar faces, I wasn’t really hooked on the first season. Thankfully, the second season of Easy reveals a better product. REVIEW: Master of None – Season Two (2017)

Release Poster – Netflix

The following is a review of the second season of Master of None. Available now on Netflix.

At the beginning of the second season of Master of None, Dev Shah (played by Aziz Ansari) has traveled to Italy to learn about a different culture but mostly to become a better pasta chef. He is still trying to get over his relationship with Rachel (played by Noël Wells), but whenever he meets someone new that he likes something always gets in the way. REVIEW: Stranger Things – Season Two (2017)

Release Poster – Netflix

The following is a full review of the second season of Stranger Things. Available now on Netflix.

When I published my short review of the first season of Stranger Things five days after Netflix had released all eight episodes, I had no idea how big of a mainstream hit it would be. Although House of Cards was the first streaming show to appear as more than just a blip on the radar for television aficionados, Stranger Things seems to be the first Netflix show to hold the attention of western audiences the way the biggest AMC and HBO dramas have in previous years. REVIEW: MINDHUNTER – Season One (2017)

The following is a review of the first season of MINDHUNTER – A Netflix Original Series

Perhaps your venture into a deep Wikipedia rabbit hole, so to speak, has led you onto a page about some terrifying, but very real monster, and now you can’t stop reading about the Dahmers, Bundys, and Zodiacs of the world. At the end of the sixth season of HBO’s Game of Thrones, the show’s two most celebrated heroes moved into position to take on the final sets of challenges for them in this epic series.
