The following list contains spoilers for films from 2012.
It’s week three of the Heroes and Villains period of Top Ten Tuesday, and that brings us to 2012. Do note that these characters aren’t solely ranked on how evil their actions are. Without further ado, here are the top ten movie villains of 2012.
#10 – The Engineer – Prometheus

Prometheus has gotten a lot of criticism for not being exactly what everyone wanted it to be, and, sure, it isn’t a perfect film – and the Engineer isn’t a perfect villain – but I really like his creature/character design.
#9 – Donny – Ted

Yeah, Donny is a weird dude. He’s obsessed with Ted, and, well, he’s crazy.
#8 – President Snow – The Hunger Games

An impactful evil political figure in The Hunger Games franchise.
#7 – Bane – The Dark Knight Rises

I’ve got two villains from The Dark Knight Rises on this list, and while Bane probably gets the most screentime of the two, he’s not the best.
#6 – Talia Al Ghul – The Dark Knight Rises

The other villain in The Dark Knight Rises! Marion Cotillard’s Talia is the mastermind behind Bane’s plan.
#5 – King Candy – Wreck-It Ralph

King Candy is the royal ruler of Sugar Rush – an arcade racing game that Ralph jumps into. Alan Tudyk brings the character to life with a solid voice acting performance.
#4 – Calvin Candie – Django Unchained

Leonardo DiCaprio plays an inhumane plantation owner in Tarantino’s Django Unchained. A must-watch film for fans of Leo, as it is a very different role for him.
#3 – Andrew Detmer – Chronicle

Not enough people talk about this excellent found-footage superhero film, which is shown from the perspective of the villain. You definitely understand how Andrew would become a villain in the end, and it is a nice origin story for a strong villain.
#2 – Raoul Silva – Skyfall

Some say Skyfall is the very best James Bond film – I prefer Casino Royale, but this is a solid film too – and Silva is almost as memorable of a villain as Le Chiffre is.
#1 – Loki – Marvel’s The Avengers

Marvel took their best villain from the solo films in Phase One, and made him the villain in the team-up film Marvel’s The Avengers. This is definitely an extremely memorable villain from one of the most groundbreaking superhero films.
