Marvel’s Daredevil is a new Netflix show from the same universe as the Avengers films. Expect spoilers for every review this season, though I’m going to try to limit spoilery details. “Speak of the Devil” is the ninth episode of the first season, and this episode was the strongest yet.
Now, I’m not necessarily a big fan of when episodes show what’s coming later on. Revealing the end product in the beginning. So I was worried during this stellar episode. Thankfully, they had a few tricks up their sleeve – and suddenly the end was something unimaginable.
One of the most anticipated scenes this season was the first meeting between Fisk and Murdock. When they met at the gallery I was so excited, and Matt was so angered – but stunned as well. A great scene between a couple of fantastic actors.
“Even Lucifer was once an angel.”
At times Fisk and Matt feel like one and the same. They both have good intentions, they want to fix the city – but we have to question who they are becoming. Fisk is becoming evil, and we wonder just who Matt is becoming.
Matt’s battle with Nobu was intense, it was beautiful – and I was really worried about our protagonist. That takes a lot to do in a superhero show. The big shock then came with the arrival of Fisk and his lackeys. Matt and Fisk’s first showdown left a lot to be desired, but it was epic.
But the episode wasn’t over – and the big reveal was stunning.
