Marvel’s Daredevil is a new Netflix show from the same universe as the Avengers films. Expect spoilers for every review this season, though I’m going to try to limit spoilery details. “Shadows in the Glass” is the eighth episode of the first season, and in this episode we get to see glimpses of Fisk’s childhood.
Wilson Fisk, as we know him in the MCU now, is one of the most complex antagonists yet. Loki of Asgard is the only one that comes close to him. But Fisk is another animal entirely; this episode showed us just that.
I’ve been waiting to see Wilson Fisk’s childhood, and this episode didn’t disappoint. Not only did we get to see how abusive his father was, but we saw what made Fisk – and we found out why Vanessa’s painting makes him feel alone. The flashbacks to Wilson Fisk’s childhood are some of the best scenes yet in this show.
“The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen”
The B-story of this episode didn’t get a lot of scenes, but the final ten minutes gave us Urich’s best scene yet. I’m not talking about him writing his article, I’m talking how much sense he made when talking to Matt.
As we go into the last couple of episodes, the last half of the season, I realize that perhaps Fisk will be the doomed villain – and if that is the case, then Vanessa’s not safe.
