It was just going to be the same kind of reaction post that I do every year, but then something happened. Warren Beatty had been given the wrong envelope. Faye Dunaway thus announced the wrong Best Picture winner. This is insane. Unbelievable. Moonlight is the real Best Picture winner. (more…)

Well, it’s that time again. Time for my favorite awards show. I’ve previously talked about the Academy Awards like it was the Super Bowl, and, really, that’s still how I feel about it. In fact, since my team is almost never in the Super Bowl, I tend to obsess over the Academy Awards more than the Super Bowl. Will La La Land Break the Record For Most Oscar Wins?

Now, I still haven’t gotten a chance to see La La Land as it hasn’t been released in Denmark yet. So it’s tough for me to really say if La La Land deserves every nomination it got. But it did get a record-tying 14 nominations for the Academy Awards, which only Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s All About Eve and James Cameron’s Titanic have gotten before.  (more…)

Academy Analysis 2016

This edition of Academy Analysis covers every Best Picture Winner since the 63rd ceremony (March 1991), ending with the 88th ceremony (February 2016).

So, one of the things I want to do in Motion Picture Thoughts is to really highlight the Academy Awards. I watch it every year. I obsess over nominees. I’m just incredibly intrigued by the Oscars. So, a couple of months ago, I decided to write about the best picture winners at the Oscars. In the future, I may focus on another award. (more…)
